Network of managers and an international network of women workers in the arts. Meetings, festivals, school, artistic programming and market. (2017 - 2025)
Since 2012
Founder, director, producer, programmer and curator.
Gestoras en red, an international network of women working in culture and the arts, was born in 2014 as a result of the work of Rosa Angelini, a filmmaker and interdisciplinary artist, at that time a representative of the Independent Culture Network, who is linked with culture and activism organizations from other Latin American countries, participating in Women, Culture and Politics meetings such as “Ella” (Bolivia), “Facción” (Uruguay) and “Emergencias” (Brazil), articulating at that time the Latin American Network of Cultural Managers and Producers.
Then in 2016, Gestoras en Red Chile was founded, joined by several art collectives. In 2017, they organized the first international gathering, "Gestoras, 1st International Meeting of Women Workers in Culture and the Arts," in Santiago. This event brought together women leaders from 180 organizations, artistic collectives, and cultural networks across nine Latin American countries, with activities taking place over four days. This significant event allowed us to reach more than five thousand women worldwide interested in joining the network and expand its reach to encompass the entire spectrum of artistic disciplines, work roles, and countries. From this milestone, our network adopted its name and international character, subsequently managing a series of actions and activities encompassing meetings and activism, schools, festivals, research, and the "Red Trabajadoras de las Artes" (Women Workers in the Arts Network) platform for promoting fair labor.
In 2018, thanks to collaborations with women and dissidents from different territories, self-management and contributions from local organizations, and cultural funds, we held 7 National Meetings of Women Managers in Network, in the regions of Tarapacá, Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Metropolitan, Biobío, Los Lagos and Aysén, and simultaneously two meetings of “Women Musicians in Network”, Network of Women Workers in Music and Sound, in the cities of Santiago and Valparaíso.
In 2019, we held the “Second International Meeting of Women Workers in Culture and the Arts” in Montevideo, Uruguay. Representatives from 390 cultural organizations, artistic collectives, and networks from 15 Latin American and European countries attended, reaffirming and projecting an international collaboration agenda for 2030. This agenda fosters partnerships and joint projects aimed at influencing and improving our sector, while strengthening alliances among Latin American countries. During this meeting, Gestoras en Red Uy (Women Managers Network Uruguay) was founded, and its members subsequently organized their own local meetings.
Another milestone was our “First Observatory of Cultures, Arts and Gender” which during 2019 and 2020 carried out the “First National Survey and Registry of Women and Dissident Workers in all the Arts of Chile” which focuses on the in-depth analysis of the social and labor situation of this.

Furthermore, since 2019 we have been promoting the “School for Women Workers in the Arts”, offering seminars on Management, Sustainability and technical areas for the arts, with virtual and face-to-face classes with more than 10,000 beneficiaries.

By 2020, our network was based in Chile and Uruguay, with established nodes in Mexico, Argentina, Peru, France, Italy, and Brazil, as well as collaborations with groups and organizations in Bolivia, Honduras, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, the United States, and Denmark. Following the pandemic, our activities have focused on Chile, with online engagement with the other countries.

In 2021, in the midst of the pandemic, we held the X meeting in person in Chile at GAM and international meetings of the network and of “Music Network” via online.

Celebrating our 10th anniversary, the “XI Meeting of Workers in the Arts” 2024 will be held, both at GAM Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center, with artistic programming, workshops, business tables, pitch, fair, conferences, tributes and talks.

This year 2025 the story continues with a new meeting to be held at GAM, Gabriela Mistral cultural center, on August 2nd and 3rd.
